    In PortlandO it is 6 days and a piece of mail addressed to squatter. I was homeless on discharge from the hospital. Had to sell or at least no other advice. If there had been a child, maybe buyers still excluded. My late Tico husband and i lost property in C.R. too. Early 90's and he was unaware of that law change. He said it was years of crops proven, but idk how many. It was changed to just squat, destroy even, for months

    The superstition comment hit home. I traveled long business over the years to Italy and yes it is true. Think of the evil eye. Goes back millennia. Plus all the saints and processions, just seems a morphing of Roman mythology into modern Catholisism.

    Learning the language makes a big difference. .Spanish is easy to learn. I have been in Panama now for 25 years. I never plan to go back to the US. Why should I? Most of my friends back there are in the cemetary. That is what happens when you get old. Anyway Panama is great. Much nicer than Florida if you are looking for a warmer climate.

    Well, as Americans, I hope you can see the reason why being a Democrat is really NOT the way to be in the US! When the Democrats instituted policies to allow the US to become a Third World country, game is over. If you vote, I would appreciate it if you did the right thing and not vote for Democrat ever - and especially this year!

    Moving abroad hoping to save money is just stupid. You move abroad for different reasons: weather, learning a new language, study or work. Most Americans only speak 'American' and should stay in the US.

    Foreigners tend to stick out and lots of locals are going to try to scam them. To me it is generally better to stay in one place and try to improve your own property than run around throwing money away in foreign countries. People everywhere face the same economic vicissitudes and struggles because all countries of any consequence are controlled by the same syndicate using their own political puppets and all are suffering under the financial predation of the fiat banking cartel as the global livestock are driven closer to the long planned Agenda 2030-21.

  • @marktapley7571
    @marktapley7571 3 дня назад

    Lifestyle choices can be too extreme in either camp. Once in retirement most people have to manage with whatever resources they have or go back to work. 80% of retirees have less than 200,000 in liquid assets and so are not going to be able to live off their principle for very long or very well. I am supposing the application of the widely recommended 4% rule. I don’t know anything about your past other than what you have stated here but I suggest that perhaps "Early Lifestyle” would be have done better to have traveled less and saved more so that today they would have more savings which would supplement the socialist insecurity. Things are not going to get better no matter which fake party is in office.

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife 3 дня назад

      Something we see a great deal of is people don't know how to manage their money. we don't mean anything bad by that but it's true. They aren't real good at figuring out new possibilities and ways to make their money go further. Getting a second job in retirement is crazy.

    Thanks a lot for sharing and, I believe you're right. Having lived abroad in 5 different countries for 25 years, have taught me more or less, the same as you just tell here 😊 I, as the majority of Danes who move abroad, will never again move back to my so-called "own country" but, that's a story for another day.. I. as some American friends. have experienced un-friendliness (direct hostility) in some countries but, when we've researched the reasons, this was never about us personally, as we were more than welcome, only our passports (the place they are issued) were/are disliked where we visited... hence, I'm referring to Denmark... I am mé, not my passport which these countries realised and, welcomed me - thank you millions to the people in these lovely countries, for actually acting as humans Havé a lovely week in the US 🤗

    You need to cut out that bad section and go back with another section of 1/2 in ply wood or whatever is under there then re shingle. Always keep a square of seal tabs, caulk, roofing nails and roofing tools. You will save money and time in the long run instead of running to the lumber yard every time you have a repair. If you are a home owner you also need some kind of storage for tools for basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry. whenever you buy bolts, fittings, elec. supplies etc. always try and buy a little extra to save time and trouble in the long run.

    I couldn't live abroad long term, short term for sure. Maybe during the worst three months of weather in the southern part of Australia where I live. I could use Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Bali as a HUB, venturing out on cheap flights for a few weeks. Just come back from KL and Singapore. I've cycle toured, backpacked and campervanned throughout the world and there are lots of places I like and could live for a few weeks, but get itchy feet and want to move especially when I've got a bicycle.

    The banking cartel in collusion with the fake congress has for decades depreciated the fiat currency (so called inflation) at ap. 50% every 17 years. This is a massive indirect tax on productivity and is ultimately a transfer of real wealth (land, water, minerals and infrastructure) into the hands of the insiders at the top.

  • @marktapley7571
    @marktapley7571 3 дня назад

    Generally where ever you go, if you live in a good place with amenities and space like your’e accustomed too in the U.S. then its going to cost more than you are led to believe. Moving is stressful and expensive for most people and lots of them would have been better off to have just stayed where they were.

    I see lots of videos about the wonderful expat life in the Philippines. They paint a picture of a tropical paradise full of beautiful women just waiting for foreigners. I have noticed that foreigners have no avenue to citizenship or even due process and are viewed as basically 2nd class ATM’s. What will it be like for them when some “contingency” comes? Would like Lifestyle’s comment on my perception.

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife 3 дня назад

      What you say is correct. The Philippine's is one of the Asian countries that do like foreigners but you have to be careful with that because there are scammers and foreigners do get scammed all the time. Foreigners have to be careful and should keep a low profile, especially when it comes to finances. Emergency? Well, the Philippines was one of those countries that wouldn't let expats leave during the 2020 thing and they were stuck there for over a year, no way out. That right there tells us, you don't want to be there if there is another 2020 thing. Thanks for watching and sharing. Take care!

      Over 7 million people died Worldwide as a direct result of the Covid virus. It was actually a "real" thing and anyone who claims it wasn't is clearly choosing to be wantedly ignorant. I was in top shape physically and thankfully mentally when I caught it in early 2020 so I knew better to get the vaccine shots when they became available. I watched three really good friends die after spending months in the hospital choking on their own mucus and leaving their families buried in medical debt after denying the virus and the need to take a vaccine. I am also a college educated biology student who has been living and thriving "successfully" while living abroad for years. I'm an immigrant and I don't dare call myself an expat. Buena suerte.

    Americans are famous or infamous for being Americans wherever they go. What do I mean. We expect everybody to speak English, but they don't. We don't take time to do research and study the culture and customs. Once again, we just plow ahead and get stunned when we find things we expect to be there, are not. I've lived overseas for a total of 15 years and learned the hard way. If you want to suceed, do your due diligence as you did in college and get overr being an 'American'!

    • @marktapley7571

      Do you think foreigners coming to America are any different. Culture is formed at a very early age and cultural mores are maintained over generations. There is no problem with this as long as they respect the laws and are decent people.

      Exactly, and this happens because they were enticed to move abroad. You are very right about the fact that as we age we get more set in our ways of living - when I was in my early 20s i immigrated to the USA from europe (came to grad school) and even though it was hard and I only came with 2 suitcases, I adjusted fine. Last year at 49 yrs we immigrated to mexico thinking to retire early and be done with USA but we cannot adapt and will go back home (to US) in a few months. We miss all the small things we got used to - our foods, the even and clean sidewalks, Panera Bread (both the coffee shop environment and the bagels - we won't be able to afford the food there anymore, just to share a coffee and a bagel), etc. Plus we've seen our share of scary stuff even though we are in the safest part of town (a dead beat up body in front of Chedraui at 8am on a Saturday, mean-looking people with guns rushing inside a residential home on the safe street we walk on pretty often, and a couple other things that scared us to death)... You are also right about what happens in emergency times - I can't help thinking that if a big hurricane hits where we live now, we would be the last ones to get supplies or any help...

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife 3 дня назад

      Hello. Yes, thank you for sharing your experience in Mexico. I have lived in a small town in Thailand for 18 years and have a Thai wife. I shop at the local vendors and only carry a small amount of cash. I can pay the various utility bills. After you have used a local vendor for 2,000 times, they will not cheat you. I have had them give me too much money back and I always return the excess money they gave me by mistake. At first, I just watched the locals and followed their lead. Besides one expat friend, I only see 2 or 3 foreigners per year.

    Why do they keep calling MIGRATING PEOPLE from Europe, the USA, Canada or any other society from the west the fancy name of EXPATS, instead of what they actually are? Migrants, Immigrants, Invaders, Occupiers, Illegals, Colonizers and Zionists.

    • @marktapley7571
      @marktapley7571 3 дня назад

      Because they are foreign nationals. They are not illegals, colonizers, occupiers or for the most part Zionists who are already there controlling the country.

    Two different Portugal expat channels reported a year or so ago that 50% of North American expats leave after 2 years and 70% after 5 years. That's pretty telling.

    Interesting viewpoint. Now that you're back, how do you plan for your end of life...assisted living.. nursing home... That's exactly what I don't want. Good luck with your choice.

    Our friends move to Manta in sept 2015. Buying a beautiful condo at some new build hotel . The hotel used the first 4 floors as a hotel the rest were sold as condos. It was in the building stage so they could the best appliances and good choice about the paints and tiles. They left Canada selling their house and cars and everything else. The reason fora cheaper lifestyle and warmer climate By Feb the came back because the husband found it to hot to live there plus he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s They where in luck that some Americans bought their condo really quick Healthcare in a foreign country is not the same especially if you don’t speak the language . Back to Canada and since then his health is deteriorating. Thank got our free healthcare . They would not be able to afford all the countless test and specialist nor understood the terminalagis

      Sorry to hear that about your friends. It's not a new story to us. We know many expats that moved back home for health related reasons, one such retired woman and her husband were so excited about moving to Cuenca and setting up house, we assisted them in finding a rental home in Cuenca but anyway, the next morning right before we went to go meet them to do the contract, the husband called and said she had a breathing emergency in the middle of the night and had to be taken to the hospital; she smoked and she had COPD. The altitude in Cuenca is terrible if you have upper respiratory issues. So, they left a few days later back to the US. We also know many expats that moved to Ecuador for the health care but when they got sick, went back home for the health care. Yes, they were blessed to have Americans buy their condo, some people that have to leave in a hurry, don't have that luxury. Thank you for sharing their story. We like to share these stories because it helps others to understand something. Some people might think we're trying to keep them from moving abroad. No, we're sharing the real issues and challenges that many expats face. Thanks again. Blessings.

      @@HMFamilyLifeThis woman with COPD, having not talked to her doctor about maybe, moving to 8,500' is very surprising as any high-altitude location should not even be considered if you have any respiratory issues. High heat and humidity also should not be considered. I have a different lung disease, retired and wanting to leave Seattle area and am definitely taking altitude, heat and humidity into consideration.

    What gets me about moving back to good old USA, most of these people are moving to the southeast USA and Texas,which are the places that will most be affected by the" coming 'climate change" ,(I call it :climate chaos).Even in moving back,people are following the crowd.

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife 6 дней назад

      Yes, most people follow the crowds and where they're going in the USA, the states that are the most popular now that I mentioned in the video are not that much less expensive. Northern Midwest states like Iowa have some of the cheapest home prices in the US now. Alabama used to be cheap but it's real estate has gone up in the last three years. But it's not always about the money. We all want safety and security as well. The USA is huge, so there are many livable and great possibilities. Thanks for watching today. Take care.

      I understand your point about climate change--but as someone living in Central Texas--I'm not worried about it during our lifetime. Our summers are always hot, but if they were gradually getting hotter year after year it would be a cause for concern. And they are not. For instance, this summer is not as hot as last summer was. Our Spring this year was wonderful--cooler and wetter, much more rain--than usual. It goes back and forth. The hottest summer in memory was way back in 1980. 2nd place was 2011. We haven't come close to those record-breaking summers. We still remain in a certain range, year after year--without any drastic changes. If our average temperatures were gradually creeping upward, that would be an indicator of future climate changes--but they are not doing that. There would have to be a very sudden, drastic change--a cataclysm that would precipitate a rapid change. And something like that would affect everybody.

      @@dragonfly9209 We agree, some summers are just hotter, some are cooler. You adapt to the changes and do what you have to do to stay cool. 😀 We used to live in Brownsville, TX and South Padre Island in the 90's and it was hot and humid but your body actually adapts to it after while. Thanks for watching and sharing that. Take care.

    Real honesty here folks! I am slow traveling and doing so relatively inexpensively. But I also can live relatively inexpensively in the U.S. I do this, for how long I have no idea, because living in the US is so easy and I welcome a bit of a challenge, a bit of fascination with how the rest of the world lives and experiences life. These "Expat bubble" areas are grotesque, to me. Trying to re-create where you come from in a new country. And if I hear the word "cheap" one more time I think my head will explode. By the time these Gringos move back home they have altered the locals economic situation, and often not for the better. My opinion.

    • @HMFamilyLife
      @HMFamilyLife 6 дней назад

      Right, we usually steer far away from the expat enclaves and restaurants and it's not because of the people because most expats are quite pleasant to be around but it's because of the price hikes in and around these areas, also there can be more crime where the expats congregate. Just a few little clues there if you care about your safety. The bad apples find ways to get into the gated communities quite easily. Thanks for watching-Take care!

    • @elevenfiftynine
      @elevenfiftynine 6 дней назад

      Well stated. I believe that’s why so many locals in places like Mexico City, resent gringos who cause housing inflation.

    I've found a way that works for me. Work half the year at a seasonal job in a national park in the US, then spend the other half of the year traveling and experiencing new places around the world. I get to experience some amazing and beautiful parts of the US, save money over the summer/fall months, then get to scratch my travel itch. I can see family in a few places in the states while I'm working there. I know it can be challenging living overseas for the long term. I lived and taught English in South Korea and Shanghai, and this gave me a sense for what it might be like to be an expat for a few years. I'm enjoying the flexibility I have now with this nomadic life. For anyone considering moving overseas, I recommend taking exploratory trips, and spending a few months in a place you're interested in. It's the only way to know for sure if it's the right move for you
